How Scholr handles school, student, parent, payment, and platform data for Nigerian private schools.

Last updated: June 1, 2026 - Scholr Inc.

1

Who We Are

Scholr is a school management and results distribution platform operated by Scholr Inc. for Nigerian private schools. For student records uploaded by schools, Scholr generally acts as a data processor while the school acts as the data controller.

2

Information We Collect

  • School data such as school name, address, contact details, administrator names, official email address, phone number, and onboarding information.
  • Student data such as student names, admission numbers, classes, subjects, scores, results, attendance or academic records uploaded by authorised school administrators.
  • Parent or student access data needed to verify result unlocks, contact support, and confirm payments.
  • Payment records for activation fees and result unlocks. Card, bank, and sensitive payment details are handled by payment processors such as Flutterwave or Paystack and are not stored by Scholr.
  • Usage and security data such as IP address, device information, browser type, timestamps, pages visited, and authentication events.
3

How We Use Information

  • To operate school dashboards, student records, result processing, result publishing, and result unlock workflows.
  • To process activation payments, result unlock payments, revenue sharing, school payouts, receipts, and transaction reconciliation.
  • To send account, verification, support, security, payment, and service notifications.
  • To prevent fraud, protect accounts, monitor platform health, and investigate abuse or unauthorised access.
  • To comply with Nigerian legal, tax, accounting, regulatory, and data protection obligations.
4

NDPR and Nigeria Data Protection Compliance

Scholr is designed to support compliance with the Nigeria Data Protection Regulation, the Nigeria Data Protection Act, and related guidance from Nigerian data protection authorities. Schools remain responsible for having a lawful basis to upload and process student data, including appropriate parent or guardian notice and consent where required.

  • We process student data only for platform operation, support, security, payment, legal compliance, and other purposes authorised by the school.
  • We do not sell student, parent, or school personal data.
  • Schools must respond to lawful requests from students, parents, guardians, and staff for access, correction, deletion, or restriction of data where applicable.
  • Scholr will provide reasonable support to schools handling valid data subject requests.
5

School Owner Responsibilities

  • School owners and administrators must upload accurate data and keep administrator access limited to authorised staff.
  • Schools must inform parents, guardians, and students about how data and result unlock payments work before publishing results.
  • Schools are responsible for determining who may access student data in their institution and for removing access when staff roles change.
  • Schools must not upload data they have no authority to process.
6

Data Sharing

  • Payment processors such as Flutterwave or Paystack for payment processing, verification, refunds where applicable, and fraud prevention.
  • Cloud hosting, database, storage, email, and infrastructure providers that help us operate Scholr.
  • Professional advisers, auditors, banks, and tax or accounting service providers when necessary for business operations.
  • Regulators, courts, law enforcement, or public authorities where required by Nigerian law or a valid legal process.
7

Security and Retention

  • Passwords are hashed and access to school data is role-restricted.
  • We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards to protect records from unauthorised access, loss, misuse, and alteration.
  • School and student records are retained while the school account remains active, then deleted or anonymised within a reasonable period after termination unless legal retention is required.
  • No internet platform can guarantee perfect security, but we work to maintain controls appropriate for sensitive school and student data.
8

Your Rights

Depending on your role and applicable Nigerian data protection law, you may request access, correction, deletion, portability, objection, restriction, or withdrawal of consent. Parents, guardians, students, and staff should usually contact their school first because the school controls the student records. You may also contact Scholr at privacy@scholr.tech.

Cookies and Tracking

Scholr uses essential and functional cookies for authentication, session security, and platform operation. We do not use advertising cookies. See the Cookie Policy for details.
